Glossary Of Terms

Androgen  
A general term for a group of steroid hormones, the primary one being testosterone.

Arteriosclerosis  
The change in arteries that causes them to become blocked.

Cardiovascular disease  
A general term meaning an aging heart and blood vessels that can lead to strokes and heart attacks.

Collagen  
The connective tissue in our body. It exists virtually everywhere in our body.

Dermatitis  
An inflammation of the skin.

Eczema  
Similar to dermatitis, frequently referring to the scalp.

Fibrocystic  
Changes in the breast tissue that causes painful lumps that are non-cancerous.

Fibromyalgia  
A general term referring to generalized aching and fatigue, with points of tenderness on the body.

Interstitial Cystitis  
A chronic and painful condition of the urinary bladder associated with bladder wall inflammation.

Menopause  
Cessation of menstruation. The hormonal decline that leads to the cessation of menstruation begins many years earlier.

Osteoporosis  
A loss of bone tissue causing pain and easily fractured bones.

Perimenopause  
A term that applies to the years leading up to menopause.

Vaginal Mucosa Atrophy  
A thinning and drying out of the sensitive vaginal lining tissue.
